Spatial Instruments

Between 2019-2024, I have been experimenting with using spatial instruments as mediums for individuals to interact with the information environment and data clusters in our surroundings. These mediums fine tune our brain’s perception, memory, prediction, and decision-making processes in time domain, allowing spatial interfaces to become a key medium for mutual learning and symbiosis with the digital world, in which the sensory presence we generate now become new histories. Through 4 awards winning media art pieces of spatial instrument, the dynamic interactive processes represent a collective decision-making and experiential engagement between the artist and the audience, reflecting the our current sensory life in the message era.

What is the relationship between visual, music and architecture, or space? How do we explore narratives and interfaces by non-visual means of time and sound, beyond the general concept of visualization and materialization? How do we implement space as a means for acoustic narrative, which helps people, especially visually impaired person to participate decision making and production?

Driven by such questions, several innovations on spatial DAW system beginning in 2019 explored the idea of spatial music structure(virtual) and instrument(physical). The innovation process provides a new answer of nowadays to the question of space-time as well as architecture-music.
